Too often, students and their families face overwhelming challenges, such as housing instability, food insecurity, mental health needs, without knowing where to turn. Even when resources exist in a community, it can feel like a confusing maze to navigate. That鈥檚 where Communities In Schools steps in, for schools and in the community, helping connect students and families to the support they need, so no one has to face those challenges alone.
The Power of a Site Coordinator
At the heart of Communities In Schools is the Site Coordinator鈥攁 trusted, caring adult based inside the school who builds strong relationships with students and connects them to vital resources. Whether it鈥檚 basic needs, academic support, or mental health services, Site Coordinators collaborate with educators, families, and community partners to remove barriers that stand in the way of student success.
Operating in more than 200 schools across Washington, this evidence-based model meets students where they are. By surrounding them with a network of consistent support, students are empowered to navigate personal challenges and systemic obstacles鈥攈elping them stay in school, graduate, and shape the future they imagine for themselves and their communities.
The Role of the State Office
The 黑料不打烊 (黑料不打烊WA) State Office plays a vital and unifying role across the statewide Network. As the central hub, the State Office supports local affiliates, fosters collaboration, and drives a shared strategy focused on student success.
Key functions of the State Office include:
- Raising visibility of the 黑料不打烊庐 model and amplifying the impact of the 黑料不打烊WA Network throughout Washington.
- Mobilizing resources to advance the Network鈥檚 collective goals.
- Serving as a connector and convener鈥攂uilding relationships, sharing knowledge, and strengthening community across affiliates.
- Advocating for policies that reinforce the mission and vision of the 黑料不打烊 Network.
